New Chemotherapy Company to move to Islip Town

The
Garnett-McKeen Company, a 7-year veteran of the Long Island High Technology Incubator at Stony Brook, is moving to a larger space in the Town of Islip. "We are ready to graduate and get on with our business," said Dr. Merrill Garnett, company founder and lead
scientist, recently.

The move coincides with a major effort to begin clinical trials of the company's banner product, a
non-toxic chemotherapy agent. The company has developed a compound that stops tumor growth. The current market for the product is the veterinarian market.

According to Dr. Garnett over 100 U.S.-based physicians have used this cancer treatment on patients and with very favorable results. "These were emergency treatments," says Garnett, "that were administered with very promising results."

Dr. Yacov Shamash, vice president for economic development at Stony Brook University said of the move, "We were happy that Dr. Garnett was able to develop what appears to be the next generation in chemotherapy. We wish Dr. Garnett and the company the best of luck with this promising technology."

The company will be moving into the Pride Professional Center in Islip. The company is building a clean room facility in order to comply with pharmaceutical regulations for the trials of their
DNA Reductase product. Their studies reveal the molecular frequencies and electronics that condense DNA.

Town Supervisor Peter McGowan enthusiastically welcomed the new biotechnology company to Islip. "Islip Town has a well-deserved reputation for being business-friendly. We are pleased that Garnett-McKeen has chosen Islip and we look forward to working with them in the future to ensure their continued success, " he said.

Garnett-McKeen is the second company to graduate from the Stony Brook Incubator to move into facilities in the Town of Islip. The award-winning company, Photonics Industries International, moved to Central Avenue in Bohemia and had expanded its staff two-fold since moving there last year. Photonics is an award-winning developer in lasers.
